Mr Maroš Šefčovič
Executive Vice-President for European Green deal, Interinstitutional Relations and Foresight, European Commission

Maroš Šefčovič (born in 1966) is a Slovak diplomat, who since 1 December 2019 has served as Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of Interinstitutional Relations and Foresight. He leads the Commission’s work on interinstitutional relations, better policymaking, strategic foresight and the European Battery Alliance. He also co-chairs the EU-UK Partnership Council and the EU-UK Joint Committee. Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of Interinstitutional Relations and Administration, and then the Energy Union (2010 – 2019); Commissioner for Education, Training, Culture and Youth (2004 -2009). Elected as a Member of the European Parliament in 2014. Before, he was the Permanent Representative of the Slovak Republic to the EU. As a diplomat he served in Zimbabwe and Canada and as Ambassador to Israel (1992-2004). He graduated from the University of Economy (Bratislava) and the Moscow State Institute for Foreign Relations. He holds a degree as Doctor of Law and a PhD of European Law (Comenius University, Bratislava). He wrote a book "Driving the EU forward – talks with Maroš Šefčovič".

Mr Thierry Breton
Commissioner, Internal Market, European Commission

Thierry Breton is the EU Commissioner for Internal Market, in charge of industry, digital, space, defence, audiovisual and tourism. Engineer in computer science, he began his career as an entrepreneur in the IT sector. French business leader, he was CEO of Thomson electronics (1997-2002), France Telecom (2002-2005) and Atos (2009-2019). French Minister of the Economy, Finance and Industry (2005-2007), he was a teacher at Harvard (2007) and authored a number of technology thrillers published in more than 40 languages. 

Ms. Kerstin Jorna
Director-General Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs, European Commission

Kerstin Jorna is a German national and a civil servant at the European Commission where she has held various positions, amongst others as Head of Cabinet of several Commissioners and different Director posts. Mrs. Jorna is the Director-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs. Before, Mrs. Jorna was Deputy Director-General for Economic and Financial Affairs. Mrs. Jorna also held positions on the Board of the European Investment Bank, the European Investment Fund as well as the European Innovation Council Fund

Jani Adolfsson-Tallqvist
Development Manager, Finnish Minerals Group

Jani is Development Manager at Finish Minerals Group. Before joining FMG Jani has been working as a consultant focusing on new business development, public funding proposal preparation and arranging open innovation ecosystems to create disruptive solutions within battery, mining, and the circular economy field. He holds a M.Sc. from Aalto University, Materials Engineering.

Siyamend Al Barazi
Head of Unit, DERA: German CRM assessment of 2023 + Recycling atlas
Siyamend Al Barazi holds a degree in geology and has been working for DERA at the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) since 2011. Since 2021, he is Head of Unit "Mineral Economics" and is responsible for DERA's raw materials monitoring, which includes screening of supply, demand and prices as well as market analyses of individual commodities. DERA provides information and analyses on potential price and supply risks for selected raw materials. The main goal is to increase market transparency for the German industry.
Abdullah Alenezi
Assistant Deputy Minister for Mining Investment Development at the Ministry of Industry & Mineral Resources, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Abdullah Alenezi currently serves as the Assistant Deputy Minister for Mining Investment Development at the Ministry of Industry & Mineral Resources, a role in which he is responsible for driving the strategic development of the mineral investments in KSA. Alenezi is has over 23 years of experience in strategic corporate planning, project management, and organizational leadership

Lea Appulo

Senior Policy Officer working with Wetlands International Europe since 2016. Based in Bissels since 2014 where she moved to work as adviser on democracy for the Party of European Socialists. Before that she was living and working in Rome in Italy as policy advisor. Her background is in international and diplomatic sciences.

Dr. Suni Aranda is the inventor of the AlSiCal technology and Project Coordinator of the H2020 AlSiCal project. She has been working in Applied Research and Innovation in industrial processes for 19 years, on several minerals and energy industries. Her background is on chemical processes and materials. She works at Institute for Energy Technology (IFE) in Norway since 2010, currently as Business Developer and Principal Scientist for Sustainable Minerals and Metals portfolio.

Ronald Arvidsson
Senior Geophysicist, Geological Survey of Sweden (SGU) - Progress in mining waste

Senior geophysicist working for Geological Survey of Sweden since 10 years. Head of SGUs mineral information office 2013-2014. Former coordinator of the MinLand H2020 project and active in European earth science projects since the past 30 years.

Alexander Barcza
Vice President Permanent Magnets, Vacuumschmelze
Dr. Alexander Barcza is the Vice President of Permanent developing-permanent-magnets-value-chain at Vacuumschmelze. As such he is responsible for the business having production in Germany, Slovakia, and Finland. He is Member of the Board of VAC’s Joint Venture with Zhong Khe San Huan Group operating out of Beijing, China. Prior to his current role he held positions in product management and R&D. Dr. Barcza earned a PhD in Materials Science and Metallurgy from the University of Cambridge in England after completing his undergraduate studies in Chemistry at the University of Vienna in Austria.

Filippo Bartolozzi graduated in Physics at Florence University. He has been working for years at B&C Speakers, one of the most prestigious manufacturers of loudspeakers for the professional audio world. In his free time, he organizes guitar concerts at the Florence-based Six Bars Jail folk club. He is involved in a local mutual help organization arranging fundraising events with social aim and he collaborates with schools giving lessons on audio and other topics.
Karol W. Bednarek
Raw Materials Expert VDA

Karol W. Bednarek coordinates the working group "Raw Material Availability" at the VDA. Since 2017, this working group has established a raw materials monitoring focusing on battery raw materials, rare earths and sustainability. The working group provides its members with pre-competitive market information and forecasts up to 2035.

Nicola Beer
MEP

Nicola Beer is Vice-President and Member of the European Parliament. She serves as special envoy on combatting religious discrimination and is chair of the working group on combating antisemitism. In the European Parliament she works especially in the Committees for Economy and Currencies, for Foreign Affaires as well as for Industry and Research. She is the Parliament's rapporteur on the Critical Raw Materials Act.

Guillaume Bertrand
Senior Geologist, French Geological Survey (BRGM) - Progress in primary raw materials

Guillaume Bertrand holds a Ph.D. in tectonics and geodynamics from the University of Paris. He started working at BRGM, the French Geological Survey, in 2003. Since 2008, he works at BRGM’s Georesources Division. There, he now is the head of the 'Geology of Mineral resources' (GEM) unit, dedicated to primary mineral resources, including the understanding of deposit genetic processes, mineral exploration, prospectivity mapping, potential assessment, etc. He also is expert for EuroGeoSurveys' Mineral Resources Expert Group and coordinator of the mineral resources team in the EU-funded GSEU ("Geological Service for Europe") project.

Elisa Biavardi

Elisa Biavardi is Chemical Laboratory Manager at Bormioli Luigi SpA. She is Post Doc from Università degli Studi di Parma and was a visiting PhD student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Cecile Billaux

Head of Unit in the DG INTPA, in charge of Trade, Investment Climate, Entrepreneurship, Raw Materials & Value Chains. She has been working for the EC for more than 15 years, holding various positions related to health, climate, development and trade, a position in the Cabinet of the former EU Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström. Before joining the EC, Cécile BILLAUX worked in the private sector as a Consultant in public affairs for major international companies. She holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.

Mr. Blind Berg is the Chairman of the Swedish Sámi Herders Association, the main organisation of Sámi herders in Sweden. Mr. Blind-Berg is a reindeer herder and leader of the Sámi village of Girjas, located in Gällivare, northern Sweden. He is a former member of the Swedish Sami parliament, the Sametinget.
Jakob Blomgren

Dr. Jakob Blomgren received his Ph.D. in Physics in 2001 from Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden. He works as a Senior Scientist at RISE Research Institutes of Sweden with applications of magnetic sensor systems. Jakob is currently active in European research projects aimed at developing efficient recycling methods of NdFeB developing-permanent-magnets-value-chain from various scrap sources.
Antoine Boubault

Dr. Antoine Boubault is a member of the Mineral Intelligence team at BRGM. He has an Engineer’s degree in Thermal Sciences and a Ph.D in Engineering Sciences from the University of Perpignan, France. He is now studying material criticality and the socioeconomic metabolism.

Stephane Bourg
Director, OFREMI
Stéphane Bourg is Director of the French Observatory of Mineral Resources for industrial sectors (OFREMI). Involved for more than ten years on the issue of critical raw materials and their supply, he has led the European expert network on critical raw materials (SCRREEN) since 2016. He is member of the COMES (French Strategic Metals Committee) and president of PROMETIA, the international association promoting mineral processing and extractive metallurgy.
Marie Bouvet
Research Officer, CEA/ISEC
Marie works at CEA/ISEC on the analysis of materials cycle for industrial sectors. Within OFREMI, she coordinates the working group focusing on stress-tests. OFREMI’s objective is to implement a methodology to analyse the resilience of industrial sectors in order to anticipate the impacts caused by disruption events on the value chains. Marie is also involved in the European project SCRREEN2 as Coordinator for the CEA. Finally, she contributes at ISEC to actions aiming at animating the french ecosystem of organizations acting for the energy transition.
Kerstin Brinnen
Corporate Lawyer, Head of Regulatory Affairs, LKAB

Ms Brinnen works as corporate lawyer and Head of Regulatory Affairs at the Swedish mining company LKAB, that mines 85% of the iron ore produced in Europe and is set to lead the transformation of the mining industry towards sustainability. Together with partners, LKAB has developed the HYBRIT technology for fossil free steel. In January, LKAB announced the discovery of Europe’s largest known deposit of REEs in the vicinity of its Kiruna mine in North Sweden. Ms Brinnen has a background as a lawyer in environmental law and environmental permit procedures.

David Brozina
Deputy Permanent Representative of Slovenia to the EU

David Brozina has a long diplomatic career in the Slovenian foreign service in different positions, mainly on coordination of EU affairs. He is now the Deputy Permanent Representative of Slovenia to the EU. He holds a masters degree from the College of Europe.

Mattia Bruschi

In charge of Ansaldo Green Tech Operations, he has an academic background in Mechanical Engineering and an extensive experience in Supply Chain Mgmt, Procurement and Manufacturing. He covered different roles at Ansaldo Energia since he joined the group in 2003, starting with Production Planning, then Blades and Vanes Supply Chain Mgmt, Procurement and Strategic Sourcing. He spent 3 yrs in Shanghai to set up the JV with Shanghai Electric. In 2013 he was awarded with the APICS CPIM certification.
Peter Buchholz
Director, DERA

Peter Buchholz is heading the German Mineral Resources Agency (DERA) at the German Geological Survey (BGR). Peter joined the BGR in 2005 as economic geologists. Before his time at the BGR he worked in the areas of ore deposit research, exploration and commodity trading. After his PhD in 1995 at the RWTH Aachen he worked at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg and from 1998 to 2002 as director of the M.Sc. Programme in Exploration Geology at the University of Zimbabwe. His research and entrepreneurial work has, nationally and internationally, been awarded.

Eric Buisson
Critical Minerals Analyst, IEA
Eric Buisson works as critical minerals analyst at the International Energy Agency (IEA), part of the World Energy Outlook team. Prior to joining the IEA, Eric served as policy officer at the Ministry of Energy Transition’s mineral resources department in France, on topics including critical raw materials, ESG and conflict minerals, and corresponding European and international affairs. Eric studied public administration at Sciences Po Paris’ School of Public Affairs, and also holds a degree in mathematics from Sorbonne University.
Carlo Burkhardt
Scientific Director, Pforzheim University

Carlo holds a Ph.D. in metallurgy and materials from the University of Birmingham, UK, and is scientific director at the STI–Institute for Precious and Technology Metals, Pforzheim University.

He is professor of manufacturing technologies at Pforzheim University (Germany) and professor of materials at the Jozef-Stefan International Postgraduate School in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

He coordinates the H2020/HORIZON projects SUSMAGPRO and REEsilience and is co-founder of two University spin-offs: HyProMag GmbH (Magnet recycling) and MetShape GmbH (Additive Manufacturing).

Frédéric Carencotte

Frederic Carencotte, chemical engineer by education, is CEO of Carester, a company he has funded in 2019, after 23 years spent in industry. Carester is specialized in rare earth processing and has 2 main activities : - Carester delivers technical services to mining companies - Carester is also developing its own industrial project aiming, from end 2025, at recycling End of Life rare earths magnets as well as separating heay rare earths concentrates coming from mines to produce pure rare earths oxides.
Samuel Carrara
Project Officer, JRC, European Commission
Samuel Carrara is scientific project officer at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission (Directorate C: Energy, Mobility and Climate – Unit C.7: Energy Transition Insights for Policy), where he carries out technical and policy analyses on raw materials and supply chains, mainly focusing on technologies for the green transition.
Dina Carrilho
Senior Science Officer, Foundation for Science and Technology (Portugal) and ERA-MIN3 coordinator

Dina Carrilho holds a PhD and has been working in the raw materials field for over 10 years. She works as senior science officer at the Department of International Relations of the Portuguese national Research Funding Organisation (FCT- Foundation for Science and Technology). Dina is currently coordinating the EU project ERA-MIN3 on raw materials for the sustainable development and the circular economy, following the coordination of ERA-MIN2. Presently, Dina is a Board member of the not-for profit association International Raw Materials Observatory (INTRAW) representing FCT.

Bakhyt Chirchikbayev

Bakhyt Chirchickbayev has more than 20 years of professional experience in energy and mining in Kazakhstan. In 2001-2016 he was engaged in daughter companies of Kazatomprom, National Atomic Company. In 2016-2022 Bakhyt was commercial director and head of Stepnogorsk Mining and Chemical Combine LLP, production of uranium. Since 2022 he is the CEO and board member of Tau-Ken Samruk National Mining Company ,a company within Samruk-Kazyna National Wealth Fund of Kazakhstan. Simultaneously, Bakhyt is a Board member of Kazgeology, national exploration company.
Aman Chitkara
Director, Government Relations, Li-Cycle
Aman is an energy and climate-tech professional with more than a decade of experience at the intersection of economics, policy, and technological innovation. He currently leads government relations and public affairs with Li-Cycle Europe, an industry leader in lithium-ion battery resource recovery and the leading lithium-ion battery recycler. Aman holds a Master's in Public Policy from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor's in Engineering from Delhi University.
Daniel Cios
Policy Officer, DG GROW, European Commission
He is placed in the unit for Energy Intensive Industries, Raw Materials and Hydrogen in the Directorate General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs. His main responsibilities are EU activities on raw materials, particularly for batteries and EU Horizon Europe framework program on R&I in the area of raw materials. You will see Daniel during Monday’s raw materials R&I Day sessions and on Tuesday in the workshop on the Horizon partnership.
Merete Clausen
Director, DG GROW, European Commission
Merete Clausen, currently the Director for Investment in the European Commission’s DG GROW, has worked for the European Commission since 2006. She was previously Head of Unit in the DG ECFIN, responsible for coordination with the European Investment Bank (EIB) Group, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and other International Financial Institutions. She graduated from the University of Aarhus, Denmark, with a master’s degree in law and worked for several years in private practice in Copenhagen and Aarhus before joining the EU institutions in 2001.
Maureen Coulas
Deputy Director, International Affairs and Trade, Lands and Minerals Sector, Natural Resources Canada

Since joining Natural Resources Canada in 1999, Maureen Coulas has taken on a wide variety of responsibilities in such areas as mineral resources governance, trade and investment promotion, and environmental management. Maureen is currently a Deputy Director in the International Affairs and Trade Division of the Lands and Minerals Sector, managing a team responsible for relations with the United States, the European Union and European countries. Prior to joining the public sector, Maureen worked for several years in Toronto for a global natural resources company.

Stefan Crets joined CSR Europe as Executive Director in February 2011. Before joining CSR Europe, Stefan was the General Manager Corporate Planning in Toyota Motor Europe (TME). Prior to his experience at Toyota, Stefan was Programme Advisor at the King Baudouin Foundation (1997-2001). He started his professional career as an academic at the University of Antwerp, Department of Sociology (1987-1997), with a focus on the measurement of well-being and the management of the social welfare state and teaching on organisational sociology and quantitative research methods.
Nina Dahl
Research Director, SINTEF Industry: REEsilience & REEPRODUCE

Dahl has more than 30 years of experience in materials technology and metal production both from the R&D sector (SINTEF) and from Hydro Extruded Products as head of Extrusion Competence Centre (2008-2013). In SINTEF the research covers the whole value-chain, from processing of raw materials, through sustainable production and processing of metals. Recycling, recovery and waste valorization are also important topics. Dahl is SINTEF representative in the board of the Norwegian strategy process Process 21 and is a member of EARTO WG on Critical Raw Materials.

Panagiotis Davris
Research and Sustainable Development Manager Mytilineos S.A
Panagiotis Davris has a background in mining and metallurgical engineering and holds a PhD in extractive metallurgy. He has been working in Mytilineos Agios Νikolaos alumina /aluminium plant almost 5 years and currently he is head of the Research and Sustainable Development Department with main activities on waste utilization, critical raw materials recovery and CO2 emissions reduction.
Alessandro Dazza

Alessandro Dazza is Chief Executive Officer at Imerys, the world’s leading supplier of mineral-based specialty solutions for industry. He graduated from Politecnico di Milano in Business Engineering.
Chloe Devauze

Chloé Devauze works as project manager at In Extenso Innovation Croissance (IEIC) on resource efficiency in a circular economy. Since 2014, she has specialised in strategic raw materials, their value chains and environmental impacts. She is a recognised advisor, working both for public authorities as well as innovative industrial projects.

Meta Dobnikar
Head of Unit, Geological Survey of Slovenia (GeoZS) – International Centre of Excellence on Sustainable Resource Management
Meta Dobnikar is the head of the Mineral resources and geochemistry department at Geological Survey of Slovenia. She holds a PhD in geology from the University of Ljubljana, where she worked as researcher and teacher in mineralogy and crystallography. For several years she joined the ministry, responsible for science and higher education, where she lead the division for higher education and the division for science. Lately she returned to geology in the framework of GeoZS, where she is actively involved in different projects.
Paula Dinis
Policy officer, Direcção-Geral de Energia e Geologia (DGEG), Portugal
Paula Dinis is a Senior Mining Engineer, with a masters degree in Environmental Management. She is working at the Directorate General for Energy and Geology (DGEG - Portuguese Mining Authority), in licensing and inspection for mineral exploration, exploitation and rehabilitation, where she has been working the past 28 years. She is the Portuguese representative in the Raw Materials Supply Group of the European Commission (under DG GROW), and Sherpa on European Innovation Partnership, contributing to the definition of strategy, policy and monitoring EU strategies for mineral resources.
Vincent Donnen
Founding partner, CDMR CIIA
Vincent Donnen, CIIA, (Franco-Luxembourger) studied and worked in economics and finance and in France, China, Taiwan and Switzerland. In 2013, he founded CDMR, which specializes in critical metals investment advisory. Since 2019, he has been working on innovative solutions to rebuild strategic stocks of critical metals. He is a CIIA (Chartered International Investment Analyst), a member of the Swiss Financial Analyst Association. He teaches regularly at the Ecole des Mines de Nancy.
Iman Dorri
Scientific Researcher, University of Munich (LMU) - Progress in end-of-life secondary raw materials

Iman Dorri holds a M.Sc. in Circular Economy and Environmental Engineering. He is working as a scientific researcher at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich in the FutuRaM (Future Availability of Secondary Raw Materials) project. The focus of his work is on developing a systematic procedure for applying UNFC on site-specific projects and also at national levels related to the secondary raw materials and extraction of material from anthropogenic resources.

Ryan Dudek
AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow, U.S. Department of State
Ryan B. Dudek, PhD, currently serves as an Energy Officer at the United States Department of State through the AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellowship program. In this capacity, Dr. Dudek provides technical advice on a range of energy technology and policy topics, including critical minerals, and is part of the team implementing U.S. commitments under the multilateral Minerals Security Partnership. He earned his PhD in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University.
Tetiana Dzhumurat
Principal Banker, Natural Resources, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)

Tetiana has over 10 years of experience in impact investing. Since joining the EBRD in 2014, Tetiana has led numerous complex project financings involving debt and equity with a total value of more than EUR 1 billion of investments by the EBRD. In her current role Tetiana is responsible for leading origination and execution of investments in the mining sector in the EBRD’s countries of operations. Before the EBRD, Tetiana worked as an associate in a corporate finance team at KPMG. Tetiana holds an MSc degree in Finance from Lund University, Sweden.

Magnus Ericsson
Adjunct Professor
Magnus Ericsson, is a veteran observer and analyst of global mining, his work going back to the early 1970s. His recent research focuses the structure of global mining, the possibility of change in behaviour and perception of the industry and the role of China in global metal supply. In 1981 he co-founded the scientific publication "Mineral Economics – Raw Materials Report" and is still Editor-in -Chief. He is an adjunct professor at Luleå University of Technology and co-founder of RMG Consulting.
Myriam Ferran

Myriam Ferran is since November 2021 Deputy Director General at the European Commission Directorate General for International Partnerships. She oversees the geographical Directorates, covering Latin America and the Caribbeans, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Asia and Pacific regions.

Jean-François Gaillaud

From 2021 to 2023, he was Chairman of the Industrial Development Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development. From January 30, 2023 to October 22 — Vice Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He holds a PhD in geochemistry from the University of Tasmania and prior to joining EIT RawMaterials in 2017 he was an academic at The University of Queensland.
Roland Gauß

Roland Gauß is Head of Innovation and Business Intelligence at EIT RawMaterials. He received his PhD from the University of Tübingen in 2008. His research interests are related to metallurgy, the resource criticality and life cycles of materials, and innovation. He worked in the fields of Nd-Fe-B processing and recycling, the extractive metallurgy of copper, and geochemical fingerprinting. He was Marie Curie Research Fellow at University College London, Head of Department at Fraunhofer IWKS, and joined EIT RawMaterials as Senior Advisor in 2016.

Since 2019 Andrzej is Deputy Director in Polish Geological Institute-National Research Institute where he is resposnsible for geological survey activities. He has a PhD (2014) in geology from University of Wrocław, Poland. In research work he focus on structural interpretation of seismic data, subsurface mapping, and tectonics of mineral deposits.

Katherine,Director, Towards Sustainable Mining at Mining Association of Canada, manages implementation of the TSM program in Canada and supports adoption of the program by mining associations around the world. Previously, she worked for the Government of Canada where she collaborated with Latin American governments to promote sustainable mining practices, provided advice in support of North American trade negotiations, and was responsible for Canada’s international collaboration and policy development related to critical minerals trade and investment. She holds an MSc in Global Politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Since 2004, he contributes to the EU raw materials policy and initiatives, including the programming of Horizon funding on raw materials. He leads the EU assessment of the Critical Raw Materials and the organisation of the EU Raw Materials Week since 2016. He represents DG GROW in the Bureau of the UNECE Expert Group on Resource Management since 2018.

Jean-Claude Guillaneau

Jean-Claude Guillaneau is graduated from a French Engineering School and continue his studies at the Laval University (Mining and Metallurgy) in Canada.

After working in the Mineral Research Center of Quebec, he joined BRGM, the French Geological Survey where he has been Head of the Process Department, Manager of the International Division and of the Georesources Division including the activities in Geology, Mineral Resources and Geothermal Energy. He has also been CEO of the engineering subsidiary in geothermal energy CFG.

He has been launching a project on Responsible Mining for the French Ministry of Industry. He is managing an European project (PanAfGeo) with 12 European countries for the training of the 55 African Geological Surveys particularly on Mining and Mining environment and starting a new project on the EU Africa Partnership on Raw Material Value Chain (AfricaMaVal).

He is actually in charge of the International Institutional Affairs at the General Direction of BRGM.

He is member of the French Mining Association (SIM) and he is also member of the SME, ICMM, SGA and the Geological Society of Africa (GSAf).

He is vice-president of the International Cooperation and Development Task Force of EuroGeoSurveys (EGS).

He has a strong background in the mining field throughout the World and especially in Africa including small scale mining and mining environment.

Claudia Haase has a Ph.D. in geophysics from Kiel University, Germany, and is working as a researcher at the Geological Survey of Norway (NGU). Her expertise lies in integrated 2D and 3D subsurface modelling, and she has been working on a variety of projects onshore and offshore Norway, ranging from crustal scale basement studies to mineral deposits. Data management and policy also fall within her area of work. Currently Claudia is working in the H2020 GREENPEG project, which is delivering an innovative toolset for pegmatite exploration.

Né à Bukavu le 4 mars 1959, Vital KAMERHE LWA KANYIGINYI NKINGI est un homme politique congolais et économiste de formation.

Il occupe actuellement au sein du Gouvernement congolais le poste de Vice-Premier Ministre, Ministre de l’Économie Nationale et préside la commission Économie et Finances du Gouvernement. En cette dernière qualité, il assure la coordination des politiques sectorielles dans ces domaines.

À la suite des dernières élections de 2018 qui ont consacré la première passation pacifique du pouvoir à la tête de l’État, il a été élu Député National dans la circonscription électorale de BUKAVU et a par la suite assuré la fonction de Directeur de Cabinet du Président de la République Félix-Antoine TSHISEKEDI TSHILOMBO.

En 2006, après les premières élections démocratiques, Vital KAMERHE LWA KANYIGINYI NKINGI est élu Président de l’Assemblée Nationale de la RDC, poste qu’il a occupé de décembre 2006 à mars 2009, avant de démissionner et de rejoindre l’opposition politique dont il a été l’une des principales figures, en fondant son propre parti politique, l’Union pour la Nation Congolaise (UNC) en 2010.

Pascal Leroy, Director General of the WEEE Forum since 2007, oversees the general management of the association. He has been involved in all manner of e-waste programmes, policies and projects for twenty years. Formerly he was Government Affairs Manager on WEEE at APPLiA, the European home appliance manufacturing industry association. He also worked for five years in the European Parliament, as well as for Hill and Knowlton, one of the world’s largest PR/PA firms.

In 2009, he took on the management of the WEEE Forum's WEEELABEX project that created the world’s first set of harmonised e-waste standards and set up the WEEELABEX Organisation in Prague, Czechia. In the past ten years, he was legal entity authorised representative for the WEEE Forum of multiple EU grant-funded projects regarding WEEE illegal trade (CWIT), recycling of LCD visual displays (REVOLV), secondary raw materials in the urban mine (ProSUM), circular services and business models (C-SERVEES), certification schemes for waste treatment (CEWASTE), data collection for primary and secondary raw materials (ORAMA), waste collection systems (COLLECTORS), future availability of raw materials (FUTURAM) and circular digital health devices (DICE). He is also a Sherpa to the High-Level Steering Group of the European Innovation Partnership on Raw Materials and as such contributed to the Strategic Implementation Plan.

Peter Moser is professor at Montanuniversität Leoben as well as Rector of the institution since the autumn of 2023. He completed his MSc in Mining Engineering with a specialisation in Tunnelling in 1983, his PhD in Mining in 1989 and his habilitation in 1998. Visiting professorships have taken him to Paris and St. Petersburg. From 2008 until 2023 he held the Chair of Mining Engineering & Mineral Economics as a full university professor.

In 2011 he was appointed Vice Rector at Montanuniversität, responsible for international affairs and infrastructure and in 2023 he was elected Rector. He has written more than 130 scientific papers in the field of drilling & blasting, mine development, underground mining, rock mechanics & rock cutting, ventilation, process technology, raw materials management and mineral policy issues.

He is a public certified expert for mining engineering and mineral economics and active with R&D work and consulting for the mining industry, mine administration and international research funds. Through his very active involvement in the European raw materials landscape, such as his involvement in the European Innovation Partnership on Raw Materials High Level Steering Group or his role as steering committee member in the EIT RawMaterials Community, his research and devotion currently revolve around political and societal challenges regarding a sustainable raw materials supply of Europe and the globe.

LKAB mines 85% of the iron ore produced in Europe and is set to lead the transformation of the mining industry towards sustainability.
